New York State Contact Tracing
COVID Contact Tracers work with people who have tested positive for COVID-19 to identify people they have had contact with and let them know they may have been exposed to the disease. Contact Tracers will connect the individual with the support and resources s/he may need through quarantine, such as help getting groceries or household supplies, child care, medical care or supplies. The Tracer will work with the individual to identify and reach out via phone and text to anyone s/he may have been in contact with while infectious in order to trace and contain the spread of the virus.
When a person is contacted by the NYS Contact Tracing Program, the caller ID will say “NYS Contact Tracing” (518-387-9993). People who have come in close contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 will be asked to stay home and limit their contact with others. Testing, medical and quarantine support will also be arranged.
Information collected under NYS Contact Tracing Program will be treated as private medical records. The program will operate through the next flu season. It will be implemented in coordination with New Jersey and Connecticut.

TEST & TRACE CORPS
NYC’s contact tracing program is called the Test & Trace Corps and it is being led by NYC Health + Hospitals.
In NYC, if an individual tests positive, s/he will receive a call from The NYC’s Test & Trace Corps, which will show up on caller ID’s as “NYC Test + Trace” from a 212 number. The Contact Tracer will determine if the individual who tested positive needs additional medical care, offer services so that the individual can safely separate at home or in a hotel, and create a list of everyone s/he had contact with (less than 6 feet for more than 10 minutes) since shortly before the onset of symptoms, including family, friends and coworkers.
Contact Tracers will then contact people who have been exposed to COVID-19 from someone who tested positive and ask them to stay away from other people as well.
All personal information shared with the Test & Trace Corps will be kept confidential as required by law.
