NYC Transit System (Subways and Buses)
All subway, bus and paratransit riders are required to wear a mask when riding on the MTA system.
MTA will shut down service and disinfect the NYC Transit System daily from 1:00 am to 5:00 am every day until further notice. Individuals can use the MTA’s enhanced bus service when the subway is not running. For more information, go to https://new.mta.info/coronavirus/overnight.
The MTA will begin front-door boarding and fare collection on all local and SBS buses beginning Monday, August 31st. In order to protect drivers, the MTA has installed protective barriers around local bus operators and are installing additional physical barriers, as well as moving the while line at the front of the bus further back.
The MTA is upgrading its entire fleet with high density air filters to limit dust particles and other airborne contaminants. In addition, a new feature on the MYmta app allows customers to tract the number of passengers on an arriving bus in real time. The new tech, is currently activates in 40% of the fleet, and enables customers to better socially distance on buses.
Face masks or covering are mandatory on all Metro-North property.
