This website is operated and maintained by the Community Service Society of New York, a nonprofit agency whose mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate for the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems.

The Community Service Society of New York is committed to protecting the privacy and security of visitors to its website. CSS’s online privacy policy is outlined below.

CSS reserves the right to make changes to this Policy from time to time. You will be able to determine when this Policy was last revised by checking the “Last Updated” legend at the bottom of the Policy. CSS may provide these changes to you by any reasonable means including, but not limited to, posting the revised draft of the Policy on the website. What Personal Information Does the Community Service Society Collect?

As a subscriber to Benefits Plus we collect the following information:

  • Name
  • Mailing and billing address
  • Phone number
  • E-mail address
  • Username and password the subscriber submits to access the online version of Benefits Plus
  • Credit card information (type of card, account number, expiration date)

The Community Service Society does not see or retain credit card information. Credit card information is processed through a secure third party Payment Gateway.

How Does the Community Service Society Use Personal Information?

The Community Service Society uses the personal information you supply for processing your subscription of the online version of Benefits Plus. The information will never be sold to third parties. We will only share personally identifiable information with third parties when the person submitting the information authorized us to share it; sharing the information is necessary for the operation of the site, for instance, to process a credit card transaction, or we are required to by law.

What Other Information Does the Community Service Society Collect?

To monitor website performance and to improve our site the Community Service Society collects and analyzes both individual and aggregate reports about web traffic. The information collected includes IP address of the user, domain of the user, URLs visited, date/time visited, time spent on the site, and documents viewed/downloaded. We do not use this service to gather, request, record, require, collect, or track any Internet users’ personally identifiable information.

How Does the Community Service Society Use this Data?

The data will be aggregated with other subscribers’ usage of the online version of Benefits Plus and will be disclosed as aggregated data, not personally identifiable to third parties for funders’ reports, promotional or other purposes.

Is this Site Secure?

The Community Service Society has established and maintains reasonable procedures to protect the confidentiality, security and integrity of personal information collected by this site. Credit card orders are processed over a secure platform using encryption technology. Other measures we take to ensure the security of personal information include restricting access to stored information to only those employees who are involved in processing transactions or at your request.

How Can I Update My Personal Information?

As a subscriber, if you wish to review, update or change personal information that you have given to the Community Service Society, go to “My Account” and record your changes.
