For over 25 years the Benefits Plus Learning Center has offered high quality training opportunities to hundreds of community-based organizations annually.

A team of experienced trainers equip social service professionals to effectively navigate public benefit and housing programs. By providing practical knowledge, advocacy skills, and government contacts, the Learning Center trains the professional to address the challenges clients face in accessing benefits.

  • Hands on Training: Trainers use adult learning techniques to teach participants the complexity of the government benefit system through best practices and engaging in practical online exercises.

  • Basic and Advanced Courses: We cover both the fundamentals, as well as advance topic courses on cash, health, and food benefits, as well as topics addressing immigrants’ concerns and more.

  • Low Cost: $50 per course. Group training is available.

    All courses on now being held via webinar. Courses are typically two hours long.

    Courses conducted by BPLC staff are approved for continuing education for NYS licensed social workers.

The Community Service Society of New York, Benefits Plus Learning Center is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0213.
