Medicaid Renewals on ACCESS HRA

Published on March 30, 2023 by Michelle Berney

ACCESS HRA (AHRA) is a website and mobile app that allows NYC residents to apply for, recertify, and check the status of HRA-administered benefits, such as Cash Assistance, SNAP (food stamps), and Medicaid.

Clients with a Medicaid-only case (meaning they are not in receipt of Cash Assistance) have had limited access to view their Medicaid coverage using AHRA. However, starting April 1, 2023, Medicaid-only clients will be able to log in to AHRA and view/reprint any Medicaid renewal notices. Starting April 15, e-notices are expected to be available on AHRA for clients who log in to the system. These are important enhancements given the unwinding of the public health emergency and the requirement for individuals to recertify for Medicaid coverage.

This information will not be available via the provider portal; it is the client who must be logged in to their AHRA account to view and/or reprint any Medicaid renewal notices. Because HRA has not made these upgrades to the provider portal, providers will want to speak to their Medicaid-only clients about logging in to their AHRA account regarding recertifying for Medicaid.
