NYS Increases HEAP Base Benefit for 2022-2023 Season

Published on December 29, 2022 by Leslie Bailey

Effective December 11, 2022, NYS has increased the HEAP base benefit amount for households that pay a vendor directly for heat for the 2022-2023 HEAP season.

Households who had already received their HEAP benefit before the increase was implemented, are entitled to a supplement bringing them to the new base amount. For example, if your primary heating fuel was wood when you applied for HEAP and you received the old base benefit of $635, your vendor would get a supplement of $50 to bring you to the new base benefit, see below.

The supplement will be issued automatically to the current primary heating vendor, there is no need to reapply for HEAP to receive this supplement.
